Gretchel Moore Jones, 87 passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 10:00am in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with the interment following at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
She was a retired dental assistant, having worked many years for Dr. Tew, Dr. Vandermere & Drs. Calamos & Marsh, in Clayton. She was active in her church for most of her life, having served as Sunday school teacher & various other roles as needed. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing & painting. She dutifully cared for her husband until his death from Alzheimer’s & was a loving mother, grandmother & great grandmother. She loved her family with all her heart and made sure they knew it.
She is survived by her son, Newitt Jones, Jr. and wife Frances of Zebulon, daughters, Phyllis White, Karon Donnelly and husband Pat, Sharon Jones and husband Eddie, all of Clayton, Cindy Webb & husband Mike of Pikeville; grandchildren, Stacey Thompson, Shelly Eatmon, Matthew Jones, Gwen Jones Earp, Nick Jones, Sheena Donnelly, Gwen Bissette, Jessica Trimmer, Britney Webb and Brandon Webb; 18 precious great grandchildren; sisters, Audrey Wooten and Christine Creech; brothers, Billy Moore, Linwood Moore and Robert Moore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Newitt Jones, Sr.; a grandson, Percy Bissette; parents, Cindy Clyde & Lawrence Hoyt Moore, 6 brothers and 3 sisters.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 29, 2018 at McLaurin Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00pm and at other times at the home of Eddie and Sharon Jones, 1727 Jack Rd., Clayton, NC. While flowers are accepted, memorial contributions may also be made to: SECU Hospice House, 426 Hospital Rd, Smithfield, NC 27577.
