Although Jerry’s childhood was difficult, he rose above it through hard work and perseverance. He began working at an early age at the Clayton Spinning Company and later became manager of Clayton Food Town, where he worked for 35 years. He was a great provider to his family, who he said always brought him great pride and joy.
Jerry was an avid Duke Blue Devils and NASCAR fan; he loved classic cars and enjoyed taking his 1963 Chevy Impala to various car shows, including the Clayton Harvest Festival where he won many trophies. Christmas was his favorite time of the year and he loved family-time decorating the Christmas tree. He was a great supporter of donating blood to the American Red Cross and was proud that he had achieved a lifetime goal of 5 gallons. His pastimes included listening to Oldies rock and roll music and watching TV with his little dog, Prince, by his side.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice T Blinson, and is survived by his three children, Wayne Blinson (Dee), Lisa Blinson Poole (Robert), Michael Blinson (Geraldine); grandchildren Brittany Perry, Harrison Denny, Holden Denny, Brandi Blinson, and Brook Blinson.
