Jody Daniel Burgart

Jody Daniel Burgart, age 56 of Oak Island, formerly from Clayton, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. Jody was born in Wise, Virginia on January 7, 1969, to the late John and Judy Burgart, A native of Clayton, Jody graduated from Clayton High School and East Carolina University with a bachelor’s in business administration. And was a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). He was the owner and CEO of Coastal Business Development, professional consulting and recruiting services and Chief Operating Officer of Amris Business Consulting and Development, pharmaceutical compliance and project management consulting.

When not on his boat, Reelin & Dealin, he loved being a part of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary Oak Island Flotilla 10-05, where he served as Flotilla Staff Officer – Materials and participated in patrols and training exercises.

Survived by wife of 31 years, Nancy Crabtree Burgart; daughters, Julie and Janna Burgart both of Wilmington; brother, Trip Burgart and wife, Kareen of Clayton; his beloved Corgis, Cooper and Bailey; father-in-law, Ralph Crabtree; brother-in-law, Mark Crabtree and wife, Bridget of Clayton; sister-in-law, Darlene Crabtree of Clayton and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, Jody is also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Bertha Crabtree and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Crabtree.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 11:00am in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with the Reverend Bruce Jones officiating. A burial at sea to be hosted by USCG at a later date. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 6:00 until 8:00pm at McLaurin Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank all the friends, relatives, and business associates who have called, visited, sent food and prayed for them.
