It is with heavy hearts that we announce Lucas Allen Harper, lovingly known as our “Peanut” and “Little Man” unexpectedly gained his angel wings on Sunday, May 11, 2025. He was 1 month and 3 weeks of age. Lucas was born in Wake County on March 16, 2025. Born a true fighter at 34 weeks weighing just 4 lbs. and 12 oz, little man is the first son to proud and loving parents, Brandon Harper and Leighya Avalos.
Although only in our arms for a short time, our precious boy brought so much joy into our lives that will never be forgotten. These were a few of his favorite things; Lucas loved watching truck/car tv shows with his daddy, swinging in his little swing outside while watching his daddy work in the shop, being held by his mama all the time, riding in the car especially if we took his daddy’s truck, and going to his first mud race. Lucas loved going to his GiGi’s house, his little plush carrot that she got him, his pacifier, and eating. He was a growing little boy who loved everything in life. He was always a happy baby.
Some memories with his daddy are going on marketplace runs for the mud truck, watching him work in the shop while swinging in his swing, and them not listening to mama.
Some memories with his mama are going to his GiGi’s house, shopping with daddy’s debit card, and all the cuddles. A memory with mama and daddy are mama wanted him to wear a camo outfit and Lucas throwing a fit and not wanting to wear it and then picking out a blue shirt that had trucks on it and him being the happiest little boy when he got to wear that shirt.
He also loved all the memories with his GiGi, MiMi, and Grammy.
A funeral service will be held at McLaurin Funeral Home at 2:00pm on Thursday, May 22, 2025. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm-2:00pm, just prior to the service. A short committal service will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
A hole has forever been left in the hearts of those who love Lucas and will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his loving mother and father, Leighya Avalos and Brandon Harper of Benson; grandparents, Jennifer and Tracy Rhodes of Bentonville; Kelly Baker of Benson; Bryan and Pam Harper of Meadow; Alexander and Angel of Wilson Mills; uncles, Alex (Tiffanie) Avalos and their son Bentley of Bentonville; Joseph Harper of Benson; Brantley Harper of Meadow; Scott “Tyler” Hall of Hope Mills; Dylan Rhodes of Benson; Travis Rhodes of Four Oaks; aunts, Sierra (Isaac) Hautamaki of Hope Mills; Beth Rhodes of Four Oaks; great grandma, Joan Vause of Selma, and his best friend and fur sister, Dixie.
