Marie Hendrick Pierce

Born in Halifax County, NC, on September 14, 1942, she was a daughter to the late Hector Hendrick and Palmer Thorne Hendrick. Marie worked in the shipping department as a clerk at Ilco Unican, in Rocky Mount, NC. She retired after 28 years in 2008.

Marie was a sports fan of basketball and football and watched games weekly.

She had a passion for cooking and was an amazing cook. In her free time, Marie enjoyed watching Jeopardy, and she loved stuffed animals. Marie was a kind woman with a good heart and will be dearly missed by her friends and family.

A graveside service will be held in Pinecrest Memorial Park in Clayton, NC at 1:00pm on Friday, January 24, 2025, with Pastor David Sutphin officiating.

In addition to her parents, Marie is preceded in death by her brothers, Hector Hendrick Jr., David Hendrick, and Kelly Hendrick.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra Marie Battle Taylor (Therman) of Roanoke Rapids, NC, sons, Jeffery Leon Pierce (Brenda) of Enfield, NC and Cephus Pierce III of Clayton, NC; brother, Clifton Hendrick (Wilhemina) of Greensboro, NC; sisters, Clementine Gadson(Arrie) of St. George, SC and Willa Mae Pittman- of Brooklyn, NY; granddaughter, Alexis Marie Battle of Roanoke Rapids, NC; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
