Mark is survived by his wife of 30 years, Susan Gavin; daughter, Amanda Gavin-Barker; son-in-law, Roger Gavin-Barker; mother, Ruth Gavin; brothers, John, Dan, and Mike Gavin, along with their wives and many other loving family members and friends. In addition to his son, Alex, he is also preceded in death by his father, James R. Gavin Sr; sister, Anne Gavin Miner; a brother, Jim W. Gavin and his nephew, Caleb Miner.
A native of New York, Mark had a love for music, video games, puns, photography, art, fantasy football, and most importantly a love for his family. He enjoyed living in North Carolina for many years and worked at Truist as a Software Engineer. He earned his BA in Studio Art at State University of New York College at Potsdam and his MS in Information Systems & Operations Management at University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
His faith in God kept him strong through trying times. He had an infectious laugh and the best hugs. We dearly wish that he had more time with us. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
A gathering of friends will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 11:00AM until 12:00PM at McLaurin Funeral Home, Clayton.
