Cody Bogdanowicz, 38, of Kenly, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on December 17th, 2025, at UNC Chapel Hill surrounded by his beloved wife, Kristina Bogdanowicz and loved ones after a courageous battle of Cancer.
A devoted husband, son, brother and friend, Cody’s warmth. Generosity and love for life left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. Born on December 5th, 1987, in Kenansville North Carolina, Cody was the beloved son of Terri Taylor and Michael Bogdanowicz. He grew up with a boundless curiosity for the outdoors, a spirit of adventure and a deep respect for nature that would shape both his career and his passions.
Cody’s early fascination with wildlife and the natural world led him to a fulfilling role as Assistant Director of Howell Woods Environmental Learning Center. Cody built a strong relationship with his co-workers that not only are friends but family. Cody had many hobbies, but the one thing that meant the most to him was his work. He loved being there and took great pride in his position at Howell Woods. Cody enjoyed frying crappie and cooking hogs for others, seeing it as a meaningful way to connect and build relationships.
When he wasn't working he enjoyed hunting, crappie fishing and being outdoors. He enjoyed spending some of his time in the mountains, at his farm and on the river. Cody loved animals and spent most of his time outside, never afraid to get dirty, in fact he was the one that got the most dirty. Cody was a deeply loyal and dedicated husband who cherished his wife, Kristina and always put her first. Cody placed his family at the center of his life. His infectious sense of humor was one of the many ways he connected with and uplifted others. Cody’s parents Terri and Michael raised a son with strong values, a good upbringing rooted in his Christianity at a young age.
Throughout their marriage, it was clear in Cody that caring for his wife, Kristina and making her a priority was important to him. He was brought up with strong values around respect and responsibility in a marriage. When he loved, he loved deeply.
Cody was a dependable friend who consistently showed up for others. Cody was the kind of friend everyone wanted in their life, he was admired by many, he played an important role in shaping and guiding his younger friends as they grew into who they are today.
Cody had many talents, but none meant more to him than being a foster dad. His heart was overflowing with love for the children we welcomed into our home, and he made sure every one of them knew what love truly felt like.
