Nora was born on August 3, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to Frank and Edith Laughlin. She graduated high school in Norwich, NY. Nora married Paul Franklin Steward on November 2, 1946 in Norwich, NY. Not only did they share many wedding anniversaries, they also shared the same birth date.
Nora was involved with the Clayton Women's Club for many years as well as the Clayton Travel Club. She was active with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension; first with the NC Extension and Community Association (ECA) where she served one year as President and several years as Treasurer, and the Extension's Sew-N-Share group
Nora is survived by sons, Garry Steward and wife, Pam Burrell Steward, of Norwich, NY and Mike Steward of Clayton, NC; daughter, JoAnn Steward of Clayton, NC; sister, Sarah Laughlin Smith of West Plains, MO; brother, Paul Laughlin of Norwich, NY; grandsons, Jeffrey Steward and wife, Kim Smith Steward, of Newport, NC and Christopher Steward of Asheville, NC; granddaughter, Carolyn Steward of Norwich, NY; great granddaughters, Morgan Steward of Midway Park, NC, Lindsey Seeley of Midway Park, NC and Kayla Farrell of Norwich, NY.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Paul Franklin Steward; her parents, Frank and Edith Laughlin; and brothers, Frank, Ken and David Laughlin.
