Ronald was born in East Moline, Illinois to Raymond and Mary Johnson.
He graduated from United Township High School and attended Black Hawk College. He worked as a Computer Specialist on federal contracts with the Bureau of Standards and EPA. He also worked for Univac. He served in the U. S. Army as a Specialist-5 during the Vietnam War. He was active in the ministry of Hampton United Methodist Church. He also was active in the Boy Scouts and completed the requirements for the Eagle Scout Award.
Ronald is survived by his wife of fifty years, Janet; his three daughters, Kristina Yeatts, Suzanne Powell, and Aimee Jones and seven grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Mary and Raymond Johnson.
Memorials may be given to Hayes Barton Baptist Church for the ministries of NC Baptist Men Disaster Relief Fund or Sonshine in the Park, a feeding ministry.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, October 15th at Hayes Barton Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. David Hailey, of Hayes Barton Baptist Church, officiating. Inurnment and a Reception will follow immediately afterwards. Arrangements are by McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton, NC.
