Shirley Laverne Miller

Shirley Laverne Miller, age 68, of Clayton, North Carolina passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025. Shirley was born in Jefferson County, KY on September 9, 1956, to the late Shirley and Ann Huckleberry Carrithers. She was a retired Sergeant First Class with the US Army and some of her military assignments include Korea, Germany, Fort Campbell, and Fort Meade. While she was in the Army she met her husband, Brian whom she married in Charlottesville, VA on July 20, 1989. After her retirement, Shirley worked for the Federal Aviation Administration and Homeland Security Agency.

In addition to her husband Brian, she is also survived by her daughter, MacKenzie Miller; sons, Christopher Williams and his wife, Toril, and Steven Williams; step daughters, Krissy Hysell and her husband, Mike, Dani Hoke and her husband, Eddie, Brianna Chandler and her husband, Matt; step son, Nicholas Miller; sisters, Jackie Crenshaw of Louisville, KY and Helen Carithers Reeves of Jeffersontown, KY; and her beloved Yorkies!

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother, Michae Carrithers; sisters, Donna Spencer, and Melissa Engleman.

A graveside service for Shirley will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, March 27, 2025 with full military honors at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro, NC.
