Sue Glithero

Susan Gale Glithero (née Scanlon) passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023. Sue was born in La Porte, Indiana on February 6, 1955 to Dorris (née Wilson) and Russell Scanlon. She attended North Central High School in Indianapolis, IN and Campbellsville College in Kentucky. Throughout her working life, she held a variety of jobs in the electronic sales industry before retiring in 2010. Tired of the snow, Sue and her husband Tom ventured south to Smithfield, NC in 2012.

She spent her years in retirement doing the things she loved: gardening, sewing and crafting, spending time with her husband and family, and watercolor painting. She was active in her community, volunteering for many years at West Smithfield Elementary and serving as an active member of the St. Ann’s Ladies Guild, including as president of the guild for multiple years. She was also a member of Way of Life Baptist Church in Clayton.

She is survived by her two stepdaughters, Kristina Glithero and Amanda Glithero; siblings Dennis (Carol) Scanlon, Cindy (Gary) Price, Mike (Kim) Scanlon, and Beth Scanlon; and numerous nieces, nephews, and chosen family. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Glithero.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Tuesday, December 19 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton.
