

Susan Watson Broili, 75, died Friday, June 18th 2021 in Clayton, NC.
A gathering of friends and family to celebrate Susan’s life will take place at a future date.
She was born October 28, 1945 in Durham, NC to Joseph LaRue and Madge Jarvis Watson. She is predeased by both parents and her daughter, Tiffany Broili.
Susan attended UNC-Greensboro, then finished her degree at UNC-Chapel Hill, cementing her love for Tar Heel basketball.
The majority of her professional career was spent as a journalist with the Durham Sun, then Herald Sun newspapers. Her most loved part of her job was covering the American Dance Festival each summer. For years she thrived on researching and interviewing choreographers from around the world, then attending and writing about their performances.
Although she lived in Durham most of her life she was an enthusiastic traveler. Her most enjoyable trips were to Tortola and Anegada in the British Virgin Islands. Her adventures were the inspiration for much of her poetry, another passion she had.
She leaves behind her sister, Jo Fisher (Al), niece Ali Brown (Steve), their children, Tyler, Cooper and Parker, and nephew Kyle Fisher (Kristina), their children, Andraya and Logan.
A special thanks to Kaylynne, Jarrett and Helen of The Enclave in Clayton for their excellent care and caring during Susan’s last few weeks. Also to Susan’s friends for their love and support.
