Almost 41 years to this day I became friends with Melanie,  an instantaneous friendship.  I'm sure it was only about 2 days after we met that I was welcomed into to the  Mournings home.  So many memories run through my mind if.  One more special then the next.  I remember our long car rides to Melanie and Jason's speed skating meets.  Him taking me and Melanie for a spin in his  Corvette. Him trying to teach me the concept of OTB.  His love for his family, jazz and tennis. For him always protecting me from Brunos whipping tail. His willingness to let us be kids and run a muck around the house .  Having a deaf ear when we sang  Donna Summers and Michael Jackson songs while roller skating in the basement.  It was many years later that I got to spend time with Mr. Mouring at the beach in Bringatin. It was as if time never passed.  We talked about the good old days and caught up on the time that had passed. Thank you Mr Mouring for being a part of my childhood and for all the memories. Rest Peacefuly.  

I feel so blessed to have had you in my life for all of these years! Not everyone gets to have a strong bond with their Grandparents like I do! Granddaddy, I will always treasure our memories and you will forever be in my heart. I love you soo much and I will miss you everyday.

Uncle Tommy will remain an enduring presence in my life. I will always remember him as an avid track and tennis fan as well as a loving dad and devoted husband.

I don’t have a single memory of Uncle Tommy where he was not smiling and happy - and usually sitting near water enjoying his family vacation. 

His memory will live on in each of us and I am blessed to have been a part of his life.

As the sun sets of your beautiful life, it is a painful but wonderful day for me, as I know you are standing next to our Father in Heaven smiling down on us.  You are more of a father to me than any other man that stood in that role.  You showed me true, unconditional love that every parent should shower their children with.  Even though we only knew each for a short time, you filled a hole in my heart that had been empty from birth.  Family is not defined as those you have blood relations with - it is those that love your imperfections perfectly and empower you to be the best YOU.  I will look after Roscoe and make sure Mrs. Marjorie doesn't eat too many Snickers until we are next to you again. Thank you for welcoming me into the best family God ever created - Love Always, your other daughter - Cynthia

Unfortunately there weren't more times to celebrate the happy occasions when our families would get together. My most fondest memories were at Aunt Anna and Uncle Bill's 4th of July cook outs and our many Birthday's we shared together with Melanie and Jason. I am very blessed to have had Aunt Anna and Uncle Bill in my life growing up in N.J., and for them to introduced me to my wonderful friend Melanie, who I reconnected with again almost 40 years later. You have a wonderful, loving family and I am so lucky to know them.

Thomas and Marjorie Mouring were  my next door neighbors for over 20 years. And it was a comfort to know that they were  just paces away. . Although they have been gone for more than two years,   I still expect to see Marjorie working in the yard planting  flowers, and .I visualize Tommy, walking  up and down our short  street..maybe 16 times. It is a warm, green, spring afternoon and he is wearing a neat sweat suit and matching cap.  He was always dapper.  Thomas Mouring's routine was always a welcome sight for me, my family, as well as my other neighbors.   Tommy was exceptionally excited during the US Open and he could talk at length about  Venus and Serena. On more than one occasion, he said to me: "They call these the golden years! It's not true."  the habits  of Tommy and Marjorie were a great comfort. I recognized this even then ..that this familiarity is a mainstay of life.  I appreciated how our neighbors helped me/us feel grounded and  safe. 
As the years went by,  his exercise slowed down and eventually stopped.. Eventually the glaring lights of ambulances puntuated the night. Watching the process of aging and consequences of failing health makes me  reconsider the precariousness that is life.  Once returning home, after months abroad, I was sad to see my neighbors, the Mourings  had moved.  Their house was empty and the lawn sprouted  a For Sale sign.  All that remained in our fenceless backyard was a house plant.   This plant, i know was nurtured by Marjorie's hands.  I recovered it and it thrives on my livingroom.  Like Tommy, it is tall and willowy and stands over me.  I water and care for it, and I think of them, these neighbors that I miss.. I pray that Tommy rest in peace and that Marjorie have more time to enjoy the beach.    I pray that The Creator bless their decendents.  Condolences from Marjorie, Tamu & Mateyo.

Dr Thomas Mouring was a true role model in the Little and Sharpe Family. He loved Tajae and Jasmine like his own grands. He was one that stressed getting an education if you want to be somebody in life. 
It was a blessing that he was a part of our lives.  He was never a stranger to anyone and we always enjoyed his humor and laughs. God makes no mistakes and  he is at peace now   and he will forever be remembered in our hearts. We all must remember that families that pray together stays together.

"Whats happening young fella?" I'll miss that greeting, but most importantly your presence. Though my time with you was brief I will forever cherish the time I had with you. You have fought the good fight and left a lasting mark on this world. Rest easy Grandiddy. 

I love you soooo much Granddaddy! You were one of the best men I’ve ever known. You supported me through it all and always showed me how much you loved me. I hope I can continue to make you proud and know that I will never forget you! I’ll miss you dearly. Rest peacefully.

I pray that God strengthen the Mouring family in the days ahead. I also pray that they remember the great times that they shared with their beloved husband, father & grandfather.  Remember, “ weeping endureth for a night but joy comes in the morning.”  May God bless you all and may Heaven smile upon  you. Love, Rod

Dr Mouring was an amazing person  and lived a remarkable life and I am saddened by his passing.  He was a gracious and a generous man who loved his family to the fullest.  I feel  blessed to have know him and he will be truly be missed.   I’m sending healing prayers and comforting hugs and may God bless you all and give you strength in your time of need.
