Tony DeWayne Pope

Tony D. Pope, passed away on Sunday, May 7th, 2023, at the age of 72. Tony was born March 14th, 1951, to Harold Pope and the late Margie Johnson Pope. Tony was a US Army Veteran and served in the Vietnam War as a Radio Coordinates Operator.

In addition to his father, Harold, Tony is also survived by his wife, Candy H. Pope; sons, Cameron Pope and his wife, Jamie, Garrett Pope and his wife, Jami; four grandchildren, Reynolds, Eason, Turner, and Rhett; sisters, Jolinda Strickland and her husband, Ricky, and Dolores Adams; and many nieces and nephews.

Tony had several titles during his life from Son, Brother, Farmer, and truck driver, as well as the family chef on Sundays, but his favorite role was being a father. Tony loved his two sons Cameron and Garrett. He was always there for them, and he was very proud of the men they have become. Tony liked nothing better than a conversation with his sons just to see how their day was going. Tony was a man who treasured his family. He was a kind and thoughtful soul and will be missed and remembered by many. Tony will be missed but never forgotten.

A memorial service celebrating Tony's life will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 11:00am at the First Baptist Church of Clayton. The family will receive friends from 9:30am until 10:30am in the church fellowship hall prior to the service.
