After graduating from Wenatchee High School, he attended Washington State University. After college, he qualified as an electronics inspector in the Aerospace program with the Boeing Corporation. After starting at Boeing, he met his lifelong partner and wife Carol while they were both living in Seattle. They were married January 4th, 1962, and stayed married for 53 years until the day he passed, after having 5 children together. While with Boeing, he worked on several significant projects, including the Minute Man missile program and the Lunar Orbiter. His work gave him and his family the experience of living in a variety of locations in Washington, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, Missouri and North Dakota.
In 1971, he decided to purchase his own big rig and trailer, and became an owner-operator contract long haul truck driver. He then went on to accumulate over 1 million miles driving truck throughout the western U.S., as well as logging roads all over the North Cascades. His driving experience gave all of his kids the opportunity to travel with him and see many places and landmarks all over the country.
In 1973, Tryg and Carol decided to bring their family and settle in Cle Elum, WA, which is where they have remained in the same home until today. The move there built a foundation of lifelong friendships and experiences for them and their children which can never be replaced. Tryg’s heart and soul truly considered Cle Elum his forever home.
Throughout his life, Tryg loved spending time in the mountains with his family and his dogs, camping, hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles. He also loved to play cribbage and chess, and taught all of his kids to play those when they were each very young. He also passed on his love of playing Horseshoes to his 4 sons. He was also a passionate fan of his beloved Wazzu Cougars and his Seattle Seahawks.
Tryg passed away peacefully on June 11th, and is survived by his wife Carol, his five children Terri, Tim, Tryg Jr., Travis and Tad, and six grandchildren. As per his wishes, Tryg’s memorial will be a private ceremony to commemorate him by spreading his ashes at his chosen location in the mountains.
