
Ivan E. Nickol Jr., 69 of Woodland died Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born on February 21, 1945 in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late Ivan E. Sr. and LaRue Nickol.
He was a 1965 graduate of Dover Area High School. He was a member of Goshen Sportsman’s Club, Mosquito Creek Sportsman’s Club, Susquehanna Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, the Fraternal Order of Eagle Aeire No. 812, Clearfield and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer.
Mr. Nickol was a tool and die maker. He worked for Sylvania in York, PA for 10 years then for Berg Electronics for 40 years until his retirement.
He was married to Ella L. “Dolly” Nickol on April 11, 1999. She survives in Woodland.
He is survived by two step-sons, John I. “Jake” Steiner III and his wife Angie and Joe Lansberry all of Clearfield.
He is also survived by two sisters, Judy Boykin and Claudia DeBenedictis and her husband Steve all of York, PA and six step-grandchildren, Carson and Hayden Steiner of Olanta, Pat and Brett Collins of Clearfield, Lindsay Lansberry of Clearfield, Evan Lansberry of Curwensville and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Otho Boykin and an infant brother, Jake Nickol.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. in Clearfield with Rev. Sean Patrick Smith officiating. Friends will be received from 6:00 until 9:00pm on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the funeral home. An additional hour of viewing will he held on Sunday from 1:00pm until the hour of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church.
