Joan L. Gates

Mrs. Gates was born September 8, 1940 in Philipsburg, the daughter of Orlie R. and Ora C. (Coulter) Lansberry.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Gates was a member of the Clearfield Alliance Church where she belonged to the OWLS.

She is survived by her husband, James W. “Bill” Gates whom she married December 3, 1957,

two daughters; Kimberly Haney of Grampian and Karen Thompson and her husband

Lee of Marysville, OH, five grandchildren; Kristi Haney, Danielle Haney, Samantha Moore and her husband, Devin, Morgan Thompson and Elise Thompson, a brother, Donald Lansberry

and his wife Evalyn of Lebanon, a sister, Jean Lansberry of Manchester, NY. and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Gates was preceded in death by her parents, two sons; John and Jeff Gates and a brother

Melvin Lansberry.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 22, 2014 at the Clearfield Alliance Church with Rev. Robert B. Goldenberg officiating. Interment will be in the Friends Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday, December 21, 2014 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of donor’s choice.
