

Born on May 1, 1941, he was the son of Charles and Santa (Costanza) Mitchell.
Louis graduated from St. Francis School, Clearfield and was a lifelong parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Clearfield.
Due to a love of automobiles, Louis became a diesel mechanic.
Louis served in the National Guard.
In 1965, he wed Sylvia Johnston, who died on February 27, 2024. Together, they raised their two sons, Louis J. Mitchell, Jr. (Jennifer), Lancaster, PA and Greg Mitchell, Las Vegas, NV.
He was a member of the Sons & Daughters of Italy, Clearfield.
Family came before anything, followed by his faith. He brought joy and laughter to every occasion. When not spending time with his family, he was an avid hunter. He also enjoyed anything related to cars, whether he was working on them or looking at them by attending car shows.
Louis is survived by his sons, four grandchildren, three brothers, Phil Mitchell (Helen), Phoenix, AZ, Charlie Mitchell, Jr. (Linda), Clearfield, Russel Miceli (Pam), Lancaster, PA and one sister, Bunnie Reber, Clearfield, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant daughter, Michelle, one sister, Theresa Papay, and two brothers-in-law, Tom Papay and Dave Reber.
A Prayer Service will be held at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, March 8 at 1 p.m. with Deacon Eugene Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Friends will be received on Saturday, from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m.
