Robert D. Hooven

He was born September 6, 1933 in Clearfield, the son of Percy L. Sr., and Frances J. (Duke) Hooven.

Robert was a graduate of Clearfield Area High School and Lock Haven University.

Mr. Hooven was a General Math Teacher, having taught 6th grade at Leonard Grade and Clearfield Middle School and had served as Principle of 4th Ward Elementary School. He was also a former employee of Dufton Hardware.

He was an active member of the Clearfield Alliance Church where he served as an Elder, Adult Sunday School Teacher and was on the Clearfield Alliance Christian School Board for 18 years.

Mr. Hooven was also a member of the Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association and a life member of the B.J.W. Fire Company.

Robert was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.

Those surviving are his wife of 68 years, Loretta M. (Mains) Hooven, whom he married January 21, 1955, two children; Pamela R. Kane and her husband Jim of Clearfield and Daniel D. Hooven and his wife Kathy of Mechanicsburg, six grandchildren; Jayme L., Michael J. and Jill R. Zazworsky, and Kyle R., Ryan D. and Emmalyn J. Hooven, three great grandchildren; Dame, Archie and Elsie Zazworsky and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Clarence, Percy Jr. and Charles Hooven and two sisters; Louise Dowd and Helen Irwin.

Funeral Services will be held at the Clearfield Alliance Church on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dr. Duane White and Rev. Tim Miller co-officiating. Military Honors will be accorded at the church by the Clearfield Honor Guard. Interment will be in Bradford Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Clearfield Alliance Church, 45 Alliance Road, Clearfield, PA 16830, the Clearfield Alliance Christian School, Marvin Graham Scholarship Fund, 56 Alliance Road, Clearfield, PA 16830 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
