
Born on June 11, 1940 in Clearfield, he was the son of Charles G. and Elizabeth (Patterson) Ammerman.
On December 30, 1966 in Winchester, VA he wed the former Bessie Gladys Taylor.
Thomas graduated from Clearfield Area High School in 1957 and served in the Army. He was employed as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic at Clearfield Equipment Company for 22 years and then worked for Kephart Trucking for an additional 17 years.
Thomas was Christian by faith. He was a Past Master of the Clearfield Lodge #314 F. & A.M. receiving the 32nd degree Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the John Lewis Shade Post 6 American Legion Clearfield, and a faithful donor to the American Red Cross, donating 182 pints of blood.
Thomas was the last of his generation. He is survived by his wife, Bessie, three children, Thomas J. Ammerman, Jr. and his wife, Erin, Dorothy Blake, and Donna Wood and her husband, William, all of Clearfield; nine grandchildren, Taylor, Luke, Morgan, Leslie, Ryan, Leslie, Jill, Donna, Danelle and 10 great-grandchildren; and and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Duane Parks in 1991 and his only brother, Charles ‘Ted’ in 2022.
Friends will be received at the The Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., 312 E. Locust St., Clearfield, PA on Thursday, March 2 from 6-8 p.m. Masonic services will be conducted by the Clearfield Lodge #314 F. & A.M. at 5:45 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Friday, March 3 from 10 until the time of services at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Mary Jo Bruinooge officiating at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Crown Crest Cemetery, Hyde where military honors will be conducted by the Clearfield Honor Guard.
