Victor E, Welker

Born on February 14, 1932 in Clearfield, he was the son of Loren M. and Frances R. (Clinger) Welker.

Mr. Welker was a 1949 graduate of St. Francis High School in Clearfield and later attended St. Francis College in Loretto, PA.

He was employed as a truck driver for many years and had also owned and operated a service station for several years.

A veteran of the Korean era, Mr. Welker served in Korea in the 11th Airborne Division and earned the rank of Master Sergeant.

He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Clearfield, PA and was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3450.

Mr. Welker is survived by a son, Victor W. Welker and his wife Bonita “Bonnie” of Los Olivos, CA; three grandchildren: Ryan A. Welker, Courtney H. Welker and Travis J. Welker. He is also survived by three brothers: Darrel R. Welker of Woodland, PA, Lester C. Welker of Woodland, PA, and William J. Welker and his wife Jean of Lady Lakes, FL; a sister, Patricia J. Hutchings of Philipsburg, PA; a two sisters in-law, Ann Lee widow of David Welker of Sarasota, FL and Jean Welker widow of Loren Welker of Philipsburg; several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents; his former wife Ella R. (Neidrick) Mason; a sister, Eunice Welker and two brothers, Loren J. Welker and David B. Welker.

Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. Francis Catholic Church in Clearfield, PA with Msgr. Henry Krebs officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Graveside military honors will be conducted by the members of the Clearfield Honor Guard from the American Legion Post #6 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1785 in Clearfield.

Friends will be received at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., 312 E. Locust Street, Clearfield, PA on Monday July 12, 2010 from 7:00-9:00 PM and on the day of services from 9:00-9:30 AM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 26 S. Second Street, Clearfield, PA 16830.
