On January 14th, 2025, Alecia Lauren Overstreet, 35, known to family and friends as Leeshy and Leesh, passed peacefully and suddenly in her home in Spring Hill, Florida. Alecia was born on June 29th, 1989, in Clearwater, Florida to Jean (Avella) and Thomas Overstreet, Jr.
Alecia graduated from Tampa Catholic High School in 2007 and spent most of her career working in restaurants. She spent the last 7 years working at various Wawa locations, making friends with co-workers and regular customers at each store.
Alecia loved photography. You could often find her outside in her hometown, Odessa, or down on Sunset Beach in Tarpon Springs, taking pictures of nature, and her favorite time of day, sunset. She loved music from an early age and often put on concerts for her family with her sister and cousin, Dominique. Alecia loved a good scary movie and during the Christmas season, the movie Elf was played over and over again. Alecia loved to play Monopoly Go and would even teach her niece and nephews to play.
Alecia was the best dog mom to Godiva, Munch and Luna. She loved them with all her heart and would do anything for them. She took as many pictures of them as a mother would their child. She had a special relationship with her grandmothers, Dorothy “Nana” and Bernice “Grammy” that she always treasured. Alecia loved her family and friends deeply, always showing support, cheering them on or lending an ear or shoulder to cry on. She was a true friend to all.
She was known for her quick wit, her impersonations and her ability to speak for others, even animals, to make everyone laugh. She was truly one of a kind.
Alecia was preceded in death by her grandmother Dorothy Overstreet and grandfather Thomas Overstreet, her grandfather Anthony Avella, as well as her fur children Godiva and Munch.
She is survived by her loving mother Jean Overstreet; her loving father Thomas Overstreet Jr and step-mother Stacey Overstreet; her grandmother Bernice Avella; her sister Brittni Overstreet (Dionte Dapremont); niece and nephews Connor Adgie, Seanna Dapremont and Jaxon Dapremont; her first cousins Dominique Kindinis, Alexandre Urban, Gregory Urban and Thomas Kramer; aunts Monica Kramer (Bud), Julie Avella, Joanna Jiampetti (Mark), Jennifer Urban; fur baby Luna; as well as many other family members and so many friends that love her and will miss her deeply.
