July 22, 1948 - March 21, 2023
Alfred Gino Santucci passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on the evening of Tuesday, March 21, 2023, following a brave battle with a sudden illness.
He is survived by his beloved children, Adam (Christie), Lisa (Kyle Farling) and Matthew (Heidi). He was the proud “Papa Al” to his eight adoring grandchildren: Ty, Levi, River, Harper, Jaxon, Marlee, Iyla and Maverick. He is also survived by his siblings Maria (Roger) and Jerry (Ann) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Frances, and his wife, best friend and soulmate, Valeri.
Al grew up in New Jersey until joining the Army and landing in Germany during the Vietnam War. There, he met the love of his life, Valeri. They settled in Tarpon Springs in the early 90s and enjoyed a beautiful life together with their children. He loved spending time on the water, traveling and living life to the fullest.
Although he worked as a Director of Project Management in the Information Technology area for the majority of his career, Al had two true passions: family and music. As an avid guitar player, Al passed his love of music on to his children. He cherished life’s sweet and simple pleasures, he genuinely lived his strong family values and he served as a calming presence in the countless lives he touched.
In his retirement years, being Papa Al was his number one joy. He was devoted to his eight grandchildren and played a significant role in their daily lives—and that impact will be forever felt by each of them. Whether a school drop off or football game, a quick drop by for a cup of coffee, a Sunday supper or a holiday gathering, he truly treasured every single moment he spent with his family.
Al made a tremendous mark on this world and leaves behind a legacy of special memories for those who knew and loved him. He will be missed dearly.
Expressions of sympathy with flowers are greatly appreciated; however, in lieu of flowers, the Santucci family have requested donations be made in Al’s name to two charities that greatly touch their lives - Juvenile Diabetes (www.jdrf.org) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (https://childrenshealthdefense.org).
A Celebration of Life will be held at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home Saturday April 8th 2023 at 11a.m. followed by a Reception.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.sylvanabbey.com for the Santucci family.
