Angela’s career began as a Kindergarten Teacher at St. Andrews Catholic Church from 1954-1957 in Rochester, NY. Her love for children led her to having her five adorable children (with always the regret of not having more). Angela was hired by Rochester General Hospital in 1967 as an Emergency Room Secretary and she worked there until the Grimes Family decided to move to Clearwater Florida in 1972. Angela’s passion with helping others led her to a career path at St. Petersburg Junior College as an Admissions Representative for 13 years. Her desire to re-enter the healthcare industry and assisting others brought Angela to a 21-year career at Morton Plant Hospital as a Patient Representative where she comforted and advocated for patient’s health needs. Even with a full-time job Angela was busy with her passion of restoring and flipping homes way before the term was even mainstream on HGTV. At one point the Grimes’ children put their foot down and refused to help her move again.
One of Angela’s favorite activities was camping with her family. Whether it was in the Terry trailer or a pop-up tent, as long as she was with her family it didn’t matter. Her family surprised her with a camping trip to Ft. Desoto for her 83rd birthday which she enjoyed it immensely despite the lingering smell of red-tide and bugs large enough to throw on the grill along-side of the hotdogs.
Angela also enjoyed crocheting afghan’s for her child, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She’s crocheted & donated countless afghan’s to the Emergency Pregnancy Services organization that provides soon-to-be Mothers with many much-needed items.
You couldn’t jump into Angela’s car without hearing the tunes from Josh Groban or Andrea Bocelli blaring from all four speakers. You couldn’t enter her home without the latest news on the TV while she was busy at work creating a new blanket for a much-needed baby. You couldn’t enter her kitchen without smelling her famous “sauce” hard at work. At the end of the day Angela’s greatest treasure was her family. Angela is now with the Lord watching all of us each and every day, she will never be far and will never leave our hearts and prayers.
