Anne Powers

Anne Walden Powers, age 96, of Palm Harbor, FL, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2016. Anne was born on November 27, 1920, in Minneapolis, MN, to Michael and Elisabeth (Yurista) Zurbey. She had 9 brothers and 3 sisters. She attended Edison High School in Minneapolis, MN, graduating in 1939. She married Ray Walden on November 15, 1941. They adopted two children, Jeanne and Thomas. The family was then transferred by Honeywell to Clearwater, FL in 1958. She devoted over 14 years to caring for her ailing husband. After being widowed, Anne married Ray Powers on December 22, 1999 at the age of 79. She was a passionate homemaker who loved cooking for her family and friends. As a member of Clearwater Country Club, she was an avid golfer, scoring 3 holes-in-one and also enjoyed playing bridge and sewing. Anne is survived by her daughter, Jeanne Curran & her husband, James Curran; her granddaughters, Yvonne Curran and Sheri Curran. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ray Walden and Ray Powers and her son, Thomas Walden. Pam Dubov will officiate services Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home.
