

Betty L. West, 90, died at 11:30 PM, Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at her daughter’s home in Palm Harbor, FL. She was born September 30, 1929 in Andersonville, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Boyd E. Hughes and Pearl G. Hughes.
She is survived by her two children, Jerry L. West (Deborrah) of Shawnee, KS and Ginger Ayres (Cliff) of Palm Harbor, FL. Her sisters, Phyllis Waugaman (Jim) and Nancy Fenton of Woodstock, GA. Six grandchildren, Angie, Brittany, Jared, Brad, Heather, Jon and two “adopted “grandchildren, Michelle and Bryan. She also had 11 great grandchildren and another due in March. Betty had many others that she considered “HER’S.”
Betty loved her family beyond measure and was devoted to them wholeheartedly. She was sustained through life by her deep faith in her Lord and faced death with great courage, peace and contentment. Her favorite Scripture was Jeremiah 29:11 (For I know the plans I have for you. “declares the Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”)
Betty was employed by Maas Brothers, Burdines and Macy’s as Credit Manager for 35 years. She retired receiving great accolades for her years of service.
Betty loved getting together with her friends and family and was always the life of every party. Betty was known as “Memaw” by so many and loved by everyone who knew her. “Memaw” had the ability to love “big” and she received “big” love from all who were privileged call her “Memaw.”
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 1 at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve King officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM and funeral services will follow at 1:30 PM.
