

David Lester Currier, 81, departed this life on August 30, 2018 in New Port Richey, Florida. He was born in Albany, New York on September 7, 1936 to Lester B. and Lavina (Akin) Currier. He graduated from Chatham High School in Chatham, NY and Cortland State Teacher’s College in Cortland, NY. He began his career at Penn Yan Academy in Penn Yan, NY employed as a Physical Education Instructor, Guidance Counselor, football and wrestling coach. He worked as an educational sales associate for Science Research Associates (SRA), served on the Board of Education in East Granby, CT and retired from the State of Florida. He enjoyed time spent with great friends and family, golfing, and cross-word puzzles. He enjoyed attending sporting events especially baseball and football. Dave served as a volunteer at Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, FL. He was predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Nona. He is survived by his son Scott Currier (Theresa) of New Harbor, ME, daughter Cara Cardello (Joseph) East Granby, CT, son Brent Currier of Windsor Locks, CT, daughter Kristen Jeffrey (Christopher) of New Port Richey, FL, grandchildren Lindsay Currier (Josh), Alyssa Cardello, Joseph Cardello, Christopher Logan (Alyssa), Carlie Currier, Paige Logan, Braden Logan, and Shayla Jeffrey, two great-granddaughters, Saffron and Audrianna, a brother Gary (Irene) Currier, a sister-in-law Nancy Spina and his long-time companion Doris Sweet. In accordance with Dave’s wishes there will be no services. A private burial and family and friends celebration of his life will be held in the future.
