

He was born March 9, 1935, in Stambaugh, Michigan to Frank C. Fellows and Lucille Scheidecker Fellows. He lived a life filled with love, compassion, and generosity.
He grew up in Lodi, Wisconsin, graduating from Northwest High School where he was a standout in basketball, track, and football. He graduated from the University of Maryland where he also played basketball and was in the ROTC.
David had a passion for flying from a young age. After graduating from college, he pursued this passion in the United States Air Force and became Captain of the 9th Air Refueling Squadron.
After his military service, David was a lifelong avid aviator which brought him immense joy and fulfillment. He also loved to “tickle the ivory’s” with ragtime being his favorite genre. He had a fabulous sense of humor and everyone around him usually chuckled at least once!! He ran in many races and marathons including the San Francisco Marathon.
He moved to St. Petersburg in 1963 and had a professional career as an educator, with Saint Petersburg Junior College and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, which included working in Continuing Education and teaching flight school. David advanced his academic career with a Master of Arts in Adult Education and a Doctorate in Community College Administration and Curriculum with post-doctorate studies in Economics and Psychology. He was a certified flight instructor and Commercial Single, Multi-engine certificates with instrument rating.
He was a member of the Quite Birdmen Club which shared his love of flying. He also served five years for the City of Safety Harbor Board on the financial committee.
A devoted husband, a loving father, and a faithful friend, He brought joy and warmth to all who knew him. He is predeceased by his second wife, Cheryl, siblings Robert, Frank, and Janet. David is survived by his significant other, Ms. Bobbie Dunn, his children: Beth (Mike), Barbe (Harvey), and David Jr. (Gloria), Stepchild Scott; grandchildren, Caryn and Kelley; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Micah, Alana, and Lukas; and his brother Jeffery and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A memorial will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 11:00 am at Sylvan Abbey 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater FL 33759.
