

Hughey, David B., 84 of Clearwater, died on Wednesday, April 13, 2011. He was born in Portland, Maine in 1926. David served with the US Coast Guard on the USS Ramsden, a destroyer escort, during WW II and received an honorable discharge in 1946. He met his sweetheart, Lorraine, at a Valentine’s party at Park Street Church in Boston on February 14, 1951, and were married later that year on December 29. They moved from Massachusetts to Illinois in 1975 where he was employed with the Northrop Grumman Corporation until moving to Clearwater in 1985. He was a born-again believer and a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Clearwater since 1987. He was a most loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed greatly by his family. He was predeceased by a son, David and a granddaughter, Jennifer Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine and 2 devoted daughters, Gail Griffin of Clearwater and Donna High (Fred) of Maple Park, IL; a brother Robert Hughey (Marion) of Cheshire, CT and a sister, Marcia Hughey of Wells, Maine; 9 grandchildren: Travis Griffin, Rebecca High, Jack High, James High, Charlie High, Ethan High, Susannah High and Christiana High and a great-granddaughter Aubrey Muir-Griffin. Visitation will be held on Monday from 6 – 8 PM followed by a celebration of his life service on Tuesday at 11 AM at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 693 South Belcher Road, Clearwater, Florida. Interment will follow with military honors at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.
