Dolores "Dee" Browder, known as everybody's “Granny,” passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, at the age of 92 ½ at Trinity Regional Rehab Center. Dee was born on September 11, 1932, in Springfield, Ohio and was known for her warm and giving heart; her love of country music, bingo, and gambling; and her dedication to her family and friends.
Dee's life was a testament to kindness and generosity. Her spirit of giving touched many lives. She began her own daycare to help care for her grandchildren, which grew and enabled her to be an integral part of the lives of many other children who also called her Granny. She faced many challenges throughout her life, such as the deaths of her husband AJ Browder and her daughter LaDonna Steller, as well as fighting and surviving cancer five times! She was a strong, independent woman and her sass helped her to meet life head-on.
Her family remembers her as a source of unwavering support and boundless love. Granny’s home was always filled with laughter, and she had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and cherished. She loved to dance to country or bluegrass music, even in her walker in her later years. Her legacy will live on through the countless memories shared by those who knew her. She loved her Bingo and was blessed with many amazing “Bingo Buddies” and friends. She also loved to play cards and hit the casinos in Vegas, Biloxi, and Tampa.
Dee was a loving mother, sister, and “granny” to many children. She was the oldest of five siblings. She is survived by her two sisters, Donna Akers and Judy Brown, and her brother, Dean Casey. She is also one of very few people who have lived to see five generations and was a great-great-grandmother. She is survived by her four sons Allan Casey (wife Tina Casey), Fred Cantrell (wife June Cantrell), Robert Cantrell (wife Christine Cantrell), and Brian Browder. She has eight grandchildren: Jason Roberts, Tara Cowden, Nicole Olree, Candace Cantrell, Freddie Cantrell, Sydney Browder, Michelle Hurst, and Eric Casey. She has eleven great-grandchildren: Blake, Brooke, and Casey Roberts, Riley and Dane Cowden, Blane and Brandt Olree, Zakai and Uriah Cantrell, and Logan and Taylor Hurst. Finally, she was able to see the birth of her great-great-grandson, Jace Roberts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred Cantrell, Sr. and her second husband AJ Browder, her daughter LaDonna Steller, and her brother Charles Casey.
A memorial service to celebrate Dee's life will be held on April 19, 2025, at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to share their memories and pay their respects. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with a service followed by the burial at the gravesite.
