In addition to serving as Captain, Papa Don was a flight instructor. In his career with the USAF, he was afforded the opportunity to live in many cities throughout the US, and visit many countries with his tour of duty extending to Europe, Korea and Japan. He was stationed in places such as Oxnard, CA, Santa Ana, CA, Charlotte, NC, Pensacola, FL, and Tampa, FL. In Tampa he was an Air Controller & Instructor at Mac Dill Air Force Base and Tampa International Airport. He held a 39-year career with the FAA as an Air Controller and spent his final years of his career at Albert Whitted Airport in downtown St Petersburg, Florida. He loved his family and devoted his final years to taking care of his wife.
