

Doris was born on April 20, 1930, in Barron, Wisconsin, to Emil and Gena Louis. She grew up alongside her two sisters, Norma and Gertrude (“Gertie”). Doris graduated from Cameron High School in Cameron, Wisconsin.
She married Donald Drung, and together they raised their two children, Brenda and Randall. In 1971, the family moved from Minnesota to Florida, where Doris continued her lifelong commitment to faith, family, and service.
Doris worked for over 40 years as a secretary at various churches, where she was known for her dedication and gentle spirit. In her free time, she enjoyed dancing with her husband at local dance halls and was an active member of the altar guild.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years Donald, her sister Norma Checko, and her parents Emil and Gena Louis.
Doris is survived by her children Brenda (Lindsey) Peters and Randall (Yulia) Drung; her grandchildren Joshua Freeman, Morgan Palermo, Mallory Drung, and Michael Drung; and six great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister Gertrude “Gertie” Amlee.
A visitation will be held at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home on May 22, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Doris' memory to First Lutheran Church and School.
