

George Robert Bolton passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, at the age of 88, surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, faithful servant, patriot, and loyal friend, George lived a life marked by integrity, dedication, and quiet strength.
George was born on October 28, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Roy and Ruth Bolton. He graduated from Redford High School in Detroit with the Class of 1956 and carried throughout his life the strong values of hard work, humility, and perseverance.
George proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard. Following his military service, he built a long and successful career as a technical writer with Western Electric, AT&T, and Lucent Technologies, retiring in 1998 after decades of respected service and professionalism.
In 1998, George moved to Florida, where he and his beloved wife, Jacqueline, built a life together. They volunteered with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, giving generously of their time and compassion to their community.
George found joy in life’s simple pleasures, playing golf and racquetball, cheering on the Detroit Tigers, Tampa Bay Rays, and the Detroit Lions, and spending treasured time with those he loved most. Above all, George will be remembered as a loving and steadfast family man whose kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support touched generations.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Jacqueline Bolton; his children, Wayne (Kathy) Bolton, Dean (Susan) Bolton, and Linda Bolton; his siblings, Edward “Ned” Bolton and Ruth (Rick) Brown; his grandchildren, Colin (Christine) Bolton, Evan (Ashley Bos) Bolton, and Dylan (Ashley) Bolton; his cherished great-grandchildren, Olivia and Abigail Bolton; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his first wife of 36 years, Mary Jo Bolton, and his brother, Jerry (Judy – deceased) Bolton.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Florida 33759. A prayer service will begin at 7:30 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 750 San Salvador Drive, Dunedin, Florida 34698.
George will be laid to rest at Curlew Hills Memory Gardens, 1750 Curlew Road, Palm Harbor, Florida 34683.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local St Vincent De Paul Society in honor of George’s life of service, faith, and love.
