

Jack R. Paterson Born in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada on 10-13-36, Jack Redford Paterson of Largo passed away on 12-29-14 at 78. Jack came to Clearwater Beach, Florida in 1948 with his father, Walter, mother, Clara and sister, Barbara, all of which are deceased. Jack graduated from Clearwater High in 1954 and Georgia Tech in 1958. Jack was the President and Co-founder of the original Underground Atlanta, opening in 1967. Jack’s passion was in all things nautical, from sailing prams to being a renowned water ski enthusiast, being one of the first to barefoot ski on Clearwater Bay. He and his sister had the “fastest speedboat” on Clearwater Bay in the early 50’s along with their own ski ramp behind their family owned motel, The Sails. Jack was happiest on a sailboat and he enjoyed many sailing trips. He held a Captain’s License as well as a Pilot’s License and was known to many of his friends as Captain Jack. Jack is survived by his nephew, John P. Noell, niece, Nancy N. Mohler, grand-nephews, Michael B. Robinson and Sean P. Noell. Funeral Service will be held at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Clearwater, on Saturday, January 10 at 11:00 a.m., visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. Following the burial, all are invited back to the funeral home for a reception. Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
