

Jackson Chandler Abernathy, age 15, of Dunedin, Florida passed away at home on April 15, 2020, following a three year battle with Ewing’s sarcoma. He was born December 22, 2004, in Highland Park, Illinois to Jim and Ingrid Abernathy and was a great big brother to Charlie and William.
Jackson was a graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Dunedin and a current freshman at Clearwater Central Catholic High School. He loved school and was an excellent student. He particularly enjoyed math and science and loved computers, meteorology, aviation and trains. He was friendly and chatty, loved his friends and teachers and could light up a room with his smile.
Jackson is survived by his parents and brothers; grandparents, Orlo and Cheryl Austin of Dunedin, and Wilma Abernathy of Freeburg, Illinois; aunts and uncles, Peter and Jennifer Austin, Vicki Howard, Stan and Kara Abernathy, Cathy and Jim Gore, Patty Bowles and Greg Olson, Laurie and Markus Ahrens, Tim Abernathy and David Abernathy and dozens of cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Vern Abernathy, aunt, Luann Abernathy and uncle, Stephen Abernathy.
Jackson’s strength, bravery and faith in the face of his diagnosis were an inspiration to his family, his friends and his community. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
