

Born on December 8, 1945, in Charles City, Iowa. Jim was the beloved son of the late Esther and Robert James Walker.
Jim spent his childhood in Lima, Peru and moved to Coral Gables, Florida with his family when he was 9 years old. In 1982, he and his family made Florida their home after relocating from Brookfield, Connecticut.
Jim lived a life defined by dedication, adventure, and deep love for his family. A highly respected Captain and accomplished pilot for United Airlines for more than 39 years, he rose to become the airline’s second most senior employee, a remarkable achievement that reflected his skill, professionalism, and unwavering passion for aviation. Flying was never simply a career to Jim; it was his calling. He truly loved the skies and inspired countless people through his leadership, calm presence, and adventurous spirit.
Beyond his extraordinary career, Jim embraced life fully. He found joy traveling the world, exploring the open road in his RV, riding his beloved Harley-Davidson, and spending treasured time with family at their cabin on Lake Roosevelt, in Minnesota.
Above all else, Jim was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend. His strength, kindness, wisdom, and adventurous heart left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be remembered for his warm smile, steady guidance, and the deep love he shared with his family.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Joanne T. Walker; his children, Elizabeth (Patrick) Wolfe, Sean (Jackie) Walker, and Brooke (Robert) Motley; his sister, Ruthann (David) Kauffman; six cherished grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and lifelong friends who will forever hold his memory close.
