September 30, 1934 to February 25, 2026
Jeanette “Jeanie” Jacot, 91, of Seminole, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on February 25, 2026.
Jeanie was born in Summersville, West Virginia and raised on a farm as a coal miner’s daughter. Her family lived modestly, wearing clothes made from flour sacks, often going barefoot, and walking
miles to attend her one-room school. Despite these challenges, she pursued her education and graduated from nursing school, where she met her beloved Charlie, to whom she was married for 66 years.
Faith and family were the cornerstones of Jeanie’s life. Her devotion to God was evident in everything she did. She didn’t just believe-- she lived her faith, teaching Sunday School and Bible
studies, and loving people warmly, deeply and sacrificially. Even after losing her vision, she asked her caregivers to read the Bible to her and continued to pray diligently for her entire family.
Her most treasured roles were those of “Mom” and “Grammy”. She patiently taught her three children and eight grandchildren skills ranging from cooking and baking, to sewing, playing piano,
and tennis. She was their greatest cheerleader. Grammy was famous for her homemade cookies, irresistible even to the family dog! She had a special gift for making her grandchildren feel genuinely loved and welcomed. They adored her!
Jeanie was the glue of the family. Holidays at her home were filled with children, pets and joyful chaos-- and she loved every minute of it! Always willing to lend a hand, she cared for kids and pets at a moment’s notice, giving their parents a much-appreciated break. Even in her later years, her home remained a haven of warmth and love. She will be deeply missed! The family would like to express its profound appreciation to her devoted caregivers, whose compassion, patience, and gentle humor carried her—and all of us-- through her final years.
A private graveside service will be held followed by a Celebration of Life gathering to which all are welcome on Monday, March 9th at 1:30 PM at Suncoast Community Church, 12855 110th Ave N, Largo, FL 33774.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Suncoast Community Church.
