Saying goodbye to you, will be an emotional day. You were such a vibrant, fun loving, caring, considerate and compassionate friend, who I truly miss. My heart aches that the last two times we tried to get together did not work out and then we moved, without seeing you again. You loved your family with your whole heart and your friends too. You were a wonderful caregiver to your parents and Don.  You celebrated life in the best possible way.  I had such fun times with you and you were one of the First Ladies I met at Woody’s and my gosh, we did have great fun. Joanna, you were loved by so many and you’ll be missed forever.  I hope you are with your family and I pray that we will see each other again.  To your family: May God comfort your hearts and be with you and know the signs that you are with them! Joann may have been my sister-in law by marriage but she was more like a “big” sister to me in life.  Once again my heart 💜 has been broken due to the loss of this beautiful soul with the only comfort of my memories and knowledge that there is one more angel in heaven!

Joann…., what a sweet lady she was! A great housekeeper, great personality. She was in our circle of friends, some of the best memories would include that she was a wonderful cook! I enjoyed many of her dishes.
That always put a smile on my face.

My friendship with Joanna spanned almost 20 years, and I miss her so very much.
I have such fond memories — in those early days, sharing our love of the Motown band that played around the beaches, and over the ensuing years, our nights out with friends listening to music, she and I sharing  a  bottle — or two — of our favorite Moët champagne, the birthday parties, and parties for no reason at all. And oh boy, could she cook!  
It was Joanna who helped me rekindle my love of golf, and we became firm golf buddies, sharing both the joys and frustrations of the game. “Just a chip and a putt,” she would encourage after I’d just shanked a ball. Our Monday morning golf rounds became one of our favorite times of the week.
Back in 2009, for her birthday, I gave her a small friendship book titled Friends to the End. Little did I know then that I would be with her on the day she passed away.
She was such a positive presence in my life — always there with a word of encouragement, empathy, advice when I needed it, and, when necessary, a good kick-up-the-butt. She always seemed to know just what to say and when.
Joanna was so generous and giving of heart. Even when she knew she didn’t have long to live, her first thoughts were for others — Steve, her family, and in particular her son John and her brother Donnie.
But that was Joanna — the most loving, generous, and caring spirit a person could possess.
Heaven really does have a new angel and when you look up and see that new bright star in the sky – that’s Joanna.

Dear John and family

I am so sorry for the loss of your Mother she was a very special person.  Our 19 years of friendship were truly an unbreakable bond. We spent many fun times together and I will miss her very much. I will cherish the memories I have and will think of her often.  My sincere condolences at this sorrowful time. Rest in peace my beautiful friend.
