February 27, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois to parents Florence and Forrest Waitman. He resided in Chicago, Illinois, before moving to Florida in 2000.
Jack was a Chicago Police Officer and retired Latent Print Detective. He served in the United States Air Force from 1962-1966 as Military Police in the Canine Unit.
Jack was awarded the Chicago Jaycee Award for calm actions during a hostage situation that saved lives. He had numerous recognition awards during his 30+ years as a Chicago Police Officer and Latent Print Examiner. He was top in the ID Section for cases solved and was a sought after expert court witness.
Survivors include wife, Carol Waitman; sister, Barbra Jo Waitman; brother, Joe Rosepapa; son, John Henry Waitman; step-son David (Josie) Lindemann; step-daughter Anne (Kerry) Blackstone; nephew Nick Rosepapa; and grandsons Shane, Jake, Dylan, and Joveen.
Private services will be held at the Bay Pines VA Cemetery
