
Joyce Jones Hooper, 95, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026. Born on July 29, 1930, in Carrollton, Georgia, Joyce lived a long, vibrant life defined by curiosity, intelligence, and deep love for her family.
A proud valedictorian of her high school class, Joyce carried her love of learning throughout her life. She majored in history and remained a devoted student of the world around her, working for the newspaper and faithfully keeping up with current events. Sharp and insightful until the very end, she never stopped asking questions, solving Sudoku puzzles, or debating the latest headlines.
Joyce married at the young age of 18 and built a life grounded in dedication and resilience. She made her home in Clearwater, where she especially loved Florida’s sunshine and her cherished morning walks. A devoted football fan, she enthusiastically supported the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. She also found joy in life’s simple pleasures, rarely missing an episode of The Price Is Right or Jeopardy, always ready with an answer before the contestants.
She is survived by her two children, Jeff and Jane; one grandson; and two great-grandsons, who will carry forward her legacy of wit, strength, and love of knowledge.
Joyce will be remembered for her bright mind, her steady presence, and the warmth she brought to those around her. Her life was one well lived, and she will be deeply missed.
