Judy’s delight in performing for others will always make us smile! 💗

So sorry for your loss. Loved Aunt Judy’s positive spirit, and her enthusiasm for creativity and performing.  She had on one of the warmest smiles and I enjoyed  our teacher talks.   I specifically remember making vests out of grocery bags for one of her student plays…Judy had such a beautiful giving nature, and will be missed.

I remember the first time I met Judy at the Sunshine Center after one of the shows she directed. She was such a "proud mama" with her cast and it was obvious that she cared about each one of them personally. It was my pleasure to introduce her to SAGES and invite her to get involved. She was a wonderful Mae in our first Play with Purpose, Denying Gravity, and a truly delightful Mary Martha in our next one entitled Phoney Baloney. Judy loved comedy and lit up with every performance she took part in. She always made certain everyone knew how much she appreciated them. Her hand-written notes always made my day and brought smiles to every recipient. Quite simply, Judy had the biggest heart and was such a talent in local community theater. She was a blessing in our community and we will cherish our memories of her forever!

Celebration of Life for Judy 

For more than twenty years, Judy—affectionately known as Bama—has been woven into the fabric of my life and the lives of my children. She was not just a colleague, not just a teacher, and not just a family friend; she was a guiding presence, a source of wisdom, and a steady heartbeat of kindness in our world.

Working beside her—co-teaching, planning, sharing students, ideas, and countless lessons—shaped me both personally and professionally. She taught me how to meet children where they were, how to lift them higher, and how to believe in them fearlessly. Her intelligence was effortless, her insight unmatched, and her heart… truly second to none.

Bama played a pivotal role in my children’s upbringing. She taught them academics, yes, but more importantly, she taught them compassion, patience, humor, and the quiet confidence that comes from being genuinely seen and loved. She stepped into their lives with the same warmth and dedication she gave her students, and for that, we will always be grateful.

Some of our most cherished memories are simple ones: decorating Christmas trees together, filling the house with lights and laughter, hosting sleepovers that stretched into mornings of shared stories and warm hugs. And oh, those stories—only Bama could tell them the way she did. (Colorful, animated, and told with her unmistakable southern accent)

Bama leaves behind a legacy of love, learning, and unwavering kindness. Her presence shaped our family. Her wisdom enriched our lives. And her spirit—bright, bold, and endlessly generous—will forever stay with us.

We were blessed to walk beside her.
And we will carry her light forward, always.

Judy Landis was a very good friend of mine. We both worked in the Homebound/Hospital Program of The Pinellas County School System. Judy and I hit it off the day we met. She was so warm and friendly to me and to everyone. It was so easy to talk to her. 
Judy’s special talent in school was in writing and getting grants to help all our students. All the teachers went to her for help with grant writing. If Judy helped you with your grant application, you got your grant. All the grants enriched the education of our students. And Judy was always willing to help all of us. She really cared about our students and was constantly finding ways to make their educations better. 
In the photo above, she’s hugging our dog. We used to go out for breakfast every Saturday morning.  Judy loved dogs. She loved people.  This photo is from a day we met at the restaurant.  Sometimes I’d pick her up and we’d go to lunch and then go shopping for our dogs. We loved doing this. 
She was  active in community theater. I helped  as her assistant with a few plays she directed and produced. I could not get over the way she pulled everything and everyone together to create a great play out of initial chaos. She was incredibly talented.  She always had so many creative ideas. 
The world seems  dimmer without her. She was such an amazing, strong, independent woman.  She was my trusted friend. And I am going to really miss her.
