In 1996, Kent enlisted in the Navy, earned an ROTC scholarship and graduated from the University of Michigan as an ensign. He rose to the rank of full lieutenant as a submarine officer, and worked as a merchant mariner in the years following his honorable discharge from the Navy. He was most recently employed by Tampa Electric Company and was fervently concerned with "keeping the lights on" in Tampa Bay. Kent was a Florida man through and through, but without all the crazy – well maybe just a little, but definitely the perfect amount. He was passionate about his job, enjoyed craft beer, was obsessed with lobstering in the Florida Keys, was a pretty impressive skeet / trap shooter and had more cat pictures on his phone than any person visiting this site.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Maggie Zielinski Moss; his mother and stepfather, Jill and Bruce Hungerford, of Dalton, Georgia; his grandmother Dorothy Hall; his siblings, Carrie Moss of St. Petersburg, Laura Moss of New Jersey, Diana Hungerford of Portland, Oregon, and Matthew Hungerford of Milwaukee; his aunt and uncle, Rene and Edward Webb, of Englewood, FL, and their daughter, Nicole Qua; his uncle John Hall of South Carolina and cousins James and Michael Hall. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest K. Moss. In addition to his grieving family, he has many friends, neighbors, co-workers and others who will sorely miss him. God bless and keep you, Kent.
