Lois Dettman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025, at the age of 92. Lois was known for her gentle spirit, quiet strength, and boundless creativity. She had a deep love for reading, crafts, and sewing — passions that not only filled her own life with joy but became cherished traditions shared with her children and grandchildren.
Lois found beauty in the everyday. She was an avid reader who always had a book nearby. She was a self taught painter later in life. Her talent for sewing was extraordinary; she created everything from handmade clothes and blankets to beautifully crafted quilts that became treasured heirlooms. Her hands were rarely idle — whether she was crocheting in her favorite chair, ceramics, baking and even trying her hand in photography.
Her creative spirit was matched by her deep care for others. She poured love into everything she did — especially into the lives of those around her. Whether it was a thoughtful gift, a kind word, or simply the warmth of her presence, Lois made people feel seen, valued, and loved.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Kenneth Dettman, son Dennis Dettman and grandson Justin Dettman.
Lois leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: Donald Dettman (Denise), Ruth Ojenek (Robert), and Joyce Graham (Marcus).
Her grandchildren, who brought her much joy, include: Jason Wydro, Aaron Wydro, Maria Mejia (Brendan), Diana Graham, Kenny Wydro, Cynthia Graham, David Wydro (Gwen), Evan Dettman, Carly Preston (Christopher), and the late Justin Dettman.
Her great-grandchildren, each a light in her life, are: Caleb Decker, Veana Etchison, Ethan Kelly, Elliot Effer, Christopher Preston II, Luna Wydro, and Lyric Mejia.
Lois was a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Penance and Christian Charity. She was a local Franciscan member of the Emmanuel Community of the Tampa Bay Area.
Lois was a ferocious prayer warrior for her family and friends, spending hours each day in prayer by her favorite window.
Lois’s legacy is one of kindness, creativity, and quiet strength and a faith filled life. Her warm heart and loving spirit will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
