Luis Alberto Guzman-Ortiz, 68, passed away on February 18, 2025. Born in Puerto Rico on May 22, 1956, to Benancio Guzman and Geronima Ortiz, Luis grew up surrounded by his siblings Maritza and Israel. At the age of 14, the family moved to Philadelphia, PA where Luis began to develop his strong work ethic that would define his life.
Luis was known for his dedication and hard work throughout his career, including: installing signs, working as a mechanic, and as a bus driver in the Philadelphia area. His commitment to his family and work was unwavering. He was a devoted father to his children Luis II, Jeanette "Angie", Naomi, and Hector, and in 1995 he met the love of his life, Isavel Guzman, and married her in 2017. Together, they moved to the Clearwater area, where Luis worked for the local Pinellas County School system. Initially serving as a bus driver, he later worked in the transportation of supplies.
Outside of work, Luis had a passion for sports. He loved playing baseball and softball and keeping up with Major League Baseball games, always proudly supporting his favorite team, the Philadelphia Phillies.
Luis is preceded in death by his father, Benancio Guzman, and his brother, Israel. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 31 years, Isavel Guzman-Ortiz, their children Luis, Jeanette "Angie", Naomi, Hector, Edwin, and Yamilet, as well as his grandchildren Zion, Clarisel, Genesis, John, Kiara, Luis III, Desiree, and Gio, and great-grandchildren Nevaeh, Soleil, Samira, Jermiah, Joniel, Katara, Ethan, Chris, Eliana, Elanie, and Aaliyah.
