

Maria Alicia Martinez-Drovie, age 45, of Palm Harbor, Florida, entered eternal rest on December 17, 2025. A beloved daughter, devoted wife, cherished sister, and compassionate servant to her community, Maria lived a life rooted deeply in faith, creativity, love, and service to others.
Born on October 5, 1980, in Cleveland, Ohio, Maria was the treasured daughter of Pepita and Francisco Martinez. From an early age, she possessed a gentle spirit and a profound sense of empathy that shaped every chapter of her life. She had an innate ability to see beauty in people and possibilities in even the most difficult circumstances.
Maria began her professional journey in the hospitality industry before discovering her true calling in education and social work. She served in both K–12 and higher education, including two meaningful periods with Saint Leo University, where she dedicated a total of eight years to Graduate Admissions. While pursuing her Bachelor of Social Work, Maria’s heart for service was fully awakened. Her internship with Healthy Families Pasco affirmed what many already knew, that she was called to walk alongside families with compassion, respect, and dignity.
Throughout her career, Maria devoted her talents and leadership to organizations such as the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, Child Abuse Council, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Family Support Network, and the Healthy Start Coalition of Hillsborough County. Her work was always guided by both vision and action, blending professionalism with heartfelt care.
At the time of her passing, Maria served as Program Manager for the Healthy Start Coalition of Pinellas County. She was admired for her integrity, calm leadership, and unwavering dedication to improving the lives of families and children throughout the community.
Beyond her professional life, Maria embraced life with creativity and intention. She had a deep love for art and painting, finding peace and expression through color and canvas. Yoga was a cherished practice that grounded her spirit, offering moments of reflection and balance. She found joy at the beach, solace in nature, and fulfillment in volunteering and helping others.
Maria treasured time spent with family and friends. She was known for her warm presence, gentle laughter, and the way she made everyone feel seen and valued. Gatherings with loved ones were filled with love, conversation, and the quiet comfort that only Maria could bring. Her friendships were deep, lasting, and rooted in sincerity.
Faith was central to Maria’s life. She lived her beliefs not only through prayer, but through daily acts of kindness, generosity, and service. Her faith guided her hands and softened her heart, leaving an enduring impression on all who knew her.
Maria is survived by her loving husband, Michael B. Drovie; her parents, Pepita and Francisco Martinez; her brother, Pakito (Tracy Bridges) Martinez; aunt, Paki Redondo; her niece, Katie Martinez; her nephew, Gabe Silas; her father-in-law, Robert Drovie; her sister-in-law, Megan Floyd; and many extended family members in Spain and dear friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 13485 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, Florida 34609. Interment will immediately follow at Florida Hills Memorial Gardens, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, Florida 34609.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Healthy Start Coalition of Pinellas County in honor of Maria’s lifelong dedication to serving others.
Maria’s life was a testament to faith in action. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the families she uplifted, the beauty she created, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
