

Mark was a distinguished ophthalmologist and partner at Ocala Eye, where he practiced from 1988 until his retirement in 2023. He earned his undergraduate degree at Johns Hopkins University, completed medical school at the University of Miami, and fulfilled his residency at Willford Hall U.S. Air Force Hospital. Mark proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for nine years, including assignments at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas, and MacDill AFB in Tampa, Florida.
A philanthropic and generous man, Mark gave deeply to the institutions and causes he valued, including the University of Miami, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Florida Cancer Research Center. He was also a part owner and founder of the Country Club of Ocala and a Royal Knight of Ocala Royal Dames.
Mark’s interests reflected a spirited love of sport and competition. He enjoyed golf and followed hockey with devotion to the Tampa Bay Lightning, lacrosse with pride in Johns Hopkins University, and football as a supporter of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the University of Miami Hurricanes.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, John Jank, Jr., and his sister, Linda Jank. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Jank; his daughters, Ashley Stone (Brick Stone) and Molly Jank; his stepchildren, Kristin Sargent, Brooke Gramer, and Gerald Gramer; his mother, Donna Douglas; his brothers, Rick Jank and David Jank; his half sister, Tracey Scotto; and his grandchild, Tennessee Stone.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home. A service was held at Bushnell National Cemetery on April 14, 2026; a memorial service will be announced later.
