

It is with deep sadness and fond remembrance that we announce the passing of Mary S. Easton, age 93, of Palm Harbor, Florida, on Thursday, February 27, 2025. Mary was born on September 13, 1931, in Tampa, Florida, to James E. and Mary M. Sheridan.
Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched through her work, her volunteerism, and her compassion for others. A devoted educator, Mary spent 30 years inspiring and shaping the minds of children in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Tampa, a Master’s in Education from the University of Florida, and an Educational Specialist degree from Appalachian College. Throughout her distinguished career, Mary taught at various levels and held positions as a Reading Specialist and Educational Diagnostician, leaving a lasting impact on the students and colleagues who had the privilege of working with her.
In addition to her dedication to education, Mary had a passion for giving back to her community. She was actively involved in numerous organizations, including the GFWC Clearwater Community Woman’s Club, Clearwater Alumnae Panhellenic, and the Light of Christ Council of Catholic Women, among others. She was also a longtime supporter of local agencies such as Neighborly Senior Services, the SPCA Tampa Bay, and Ruth Eckerd Hall, where she devoted much of her time and energy. Her love for her community was matched only by her love for her family and friends.
Mary had a zest for life and enjoyed many hobbies, including playing golf and attending performances at Ruth Eckerd Hall. She was an active member of the Leading Ladies of PAC. She found joy in the beauty of the arts and in the friendships she forged along the way. Mary was a devoted supporter of The Florida Orchestra, Chi Chi Rodriguez Academy, and Meals on Wheels, offering her time and resources to uplift others in every way she could.
She is survived by her family, including those whose lives she touched with her boundless love, kindness, and generosity. While her presence will be deeply missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
A funeral mass to celebrate Mary's life will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Light of Christ Catholic Church, 2176 Marilyn Street, Clearwater, Florida 33765. A committal service will follow at 12:00 PM at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, 4202 E Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33610.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to SPCA Tampa Bay or St. Jude Children's Hospital, organizations that held special meaning to her.
Mary's spirit will forever be cherished, her legacy will endure, and her love will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
