Mary Elizabeth Maloney, 80, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025. Born on February 1, 1945, in Boston, Massachusetts, she was the cherished daughter of the late John and Sarah (Doherty) McGonagle and the beloved wife of the late Roland Thomas “Tom” Maloney, with whom she shared 43 years of marriage.
A devoted mother, Nana, and friend, Mary was a longtime resident of Clearwater and a faithful Catholic. She served as a Eucharistic minister, and her faith was the guiding light of her life. Known for her love of baking Irish soda bread, she often hosted lively St. Patrick’s Day gatherings that brought together family and friends. Mary was also an avid fan of puzzles, bridge, travel, reading, Broadway musicals, and shopping. She treasured dining out with those she loved, and her warm, caring nature left an unforgettable mark on all who knew her.
Mary was preceded in death by her four siblings: Helen Handscom, John McGonagle, William “Bill” McGonagle, and Anne Jensen. She is survived by her three daughters: Kathleen Gormally; Colleen Ghozali and her husband Ben; and Sarah Major and her husband Adam. Mary also leaves behind eight treasured grandchildren: Sarah, Katie, Hunter, and Sophia (children of Kathleen); Ethan and Lilly (children of Colleen); and Liam and Emma (children of Sarah).
Mary’s family and friends will forever hold dear the love, kindness, laughter, and joy she generously shared. She is now reunited in heaven with cherished family and friends who went before her. Her love remains with us always.
