She was born in Wattensaw, Arkansas on September 11, 1938 to Lee Roy McNeill and Mattie Lucille McNeill. Lue graduated from DesArc High School where she and her late identical twin sister, Ida Sue Hamric enjoyed being co-captains of the basketball team. Lue was married to Buford Alton Roland, her loving husband for 48 years, whom she loved and cherished dearly. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2004. Lue worked at the Pinellas County Courthouse as a Court Clerk by the judge’s side until she retired. She had many other jobs during her early years as an Air Force wife who traveled all over the country with her family. She was a member of many churches over the years as she traveled. She had a strong Faith in God.
She had a passion for gardening and could make anything grow, rescuing many struggling plants and bringing them back to life with her green thumb. Her garden was her place of joy to watch her and feed the birds who visited with her daily. She also loved to cook even canning her famous vegetable soup and chicken and dumplings for her family and delivering to her neighbors.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Larry) Sekely, and her sons, Keith Roland and Bradley Roland, her grandchildren, Jason Sekely and Jessica Sekely, her brother, James McNeill.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on January 17th, 2025, at Sylvan Abby Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made in Lue’s memory to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital to support families living with cancer as Lue lost so many to that disease.
