Nancy was a long time USPS Peabody, Massachusetts letter carrier, retiring in 2011. This was her dream job, as she enjoyed interacting with her co-workers and customers.
Nancy was raised in Nahant, MA, a small town surrounded by the ocean. This inspired her love of the beach, boating, and sunbathing as a young girl. She was also an accomplished sailor, crewing for her father competitively in Hustler class races in numerous regattas during the summer months.
Nancy and her (late) companion Marc Thomas moved from Danvers, MA to Japanese Gardens in Clearwater, FL in 2012. Prior to that, they would spend their summer weekends at Sunset Park in Hampstead, NH. There, they entertained many friends, having shindigs that always created the Wow-factor.
Belonging to many social clubs on the North Shore and in Clearwater, Nancy had many friendships she cherished. She was most proud of her time at the Polish Club where she and Marc organized cruises for members and friends. She was also an active social board member for the Bayside Waters, answering questions and concerns for residents there.
Nancy enjoyed being in the spotlight, organizing annual trips to Gasparilla in Ybor City, and casino trips to Tampa, as well as a reunion with her retired postal services co-workers in June of last year, meeting at Capones in Peabody, MA.
Going to the casino was a favorite time for her - whether at the Hard Rock Cafe in Tampa, or during her Royal Caribbean cruises, she was in her happy place.
Nancy adored all of her grandchildren. Often she would send packages of love to them, which made their days bright, as well as hers. After receiving their gifts, joyful phone calls would soon follow.
Nancy was predeceased by her brothers, Robbie and Ronald, and her sisters, Marilyn and Linda.
She is survived by her daughter, Wendi Smith; mother, Lona Britt; brother, Richard Britt with his wife Lisa; brothers-in-law, Bob Caouette and Joseph Evju; grandchildren, Savannah Smith and DJ Smith; great grandchild, Nova Harris; and uncle, Bertil Franson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
